Illinois Gaming Race Trackes

Illinois is home to a number of casinos, horse tracks, and racetracks. Illinois residents looking for gambling opportunities will find themselves spoiled for choice with numerous options available in the state. It can be hard to decide where to start, so we’ve put together an introduction that should help new gamblers navigate their way through Illinois gaming.

Illinois Gaming Games

The Illinois lottery offers several instant games, including scratch-offs. These tickets are available in gas stations and convenience stores across the state. While they aren’t my favorite form of gambling, buying one or two on your way out is always a good idea!

Other than lotteries & horse racing, most Illinois games like poker or roulette must take place under roofs instead of outdoors which means this article will mostly focus on Illinois gambling (online Illinois gambling excepted).

Illinois Casinos also have free parking, often offer hotel discounts to Illinois gamblers, and are generally much more accessible than casinos in other states where they’re hard-pressed for space.

Different Casinos in Illinois

There are a wide variety of Illinois casinos near Chicago that vary according to their location, theme, and amenities but all focus on making sure players enjoy themselves when playing Illinois games. Some of my favorite places include Rivers Casino (in Des Plaines), Hollywood Casino Joliet & Harrah’s Metropolis (about an hour outside of downtown). One thing I love about these three is how friendly their staffs are – if your dealer or waiters are Illinois gaming, they might even offer you a free drink or appetizer to keep your luck going.

The Rivers Casino is located in Des Plaines and offers Illinois gambling with an upscale feel – it’s one of the newest Illinois casinos (opened in 2013) but already established itself as my favorite casino for Illinois games like craps because of its modern design & excellent customer service. The Hollywood Casino Joliet features over 1300 slots on two floors with 15 table games including blackjack; this is where I’ve had some of the best experiences playing Illinois poker here against real-life dealers instead of computerized ones! Down about 45 minutes south outside St Louis sits Harrah Metropolis which has more than  400 Illinois gaming machines and 16 Illinois table games.
