The Illinois video gaming industry has seen a boom in the last few years. This post will highlight why Illinois video gaming is growing and what it means for those who want to participate.  It all started with the arcade games back in 1971 at Andy Capp’s Tavern where patrons could play games like Pong or Asteroids. Players would put their money into quarters that they would then use as credits when playing these early forerunners of modern-day consoles such as PlayStation, XBOX, etc… While many bars had video games, it wasn’t until the 1990’s that Illinois bars and restaurants started to use video gaming as a way for people to pass time.

Many  Illinois bars even go as far as to offer food and drink specials when certain games are played.

An arcade bar in Illinois is a business that focuses heavily on video gaming machines but also offers the typical amenities of any normal establishment such as having TVs for watching sporting events, places to sit down and eat or drink orders from waiters/waitresses serving customers at their tables. Some Illinois arcades will allow free play while others require tokens (a form of money) which you purchase beforehand similar to how old-school Illinois arcades worked back in the day. The reason people love modern-day Illinois arcades so much is that they combine classic 80s style fun with new Illinois video gaming that people can’t seem to get enough of.

Video Gaming has become a staple at Illinois arcades but this is not the only place where you will find them in Illinois. Video games are currently being played all across our great state on various platforms such as computers, mobile devices, and even consoles found within homes or public spaces alike!
